The architectural rejuvenation of the Grand Darul Makmur Hotel in Kuantan redefines the building’s identity through a refined, multi layered façade that bridges traditional cultural references with contemporary hospitality standards. The primary design intervention introduces a series of expressive vertical fins and gold toned metallic accents that create a rhythmic texture across the tower, reinforcing its vertical prominence within the Kuantan skyline. This composition is anchored by a sweeping arched entrance canopy that establishes a strong sense of arrival while extending the building’s presence into the surrounding streetscape. At the upper levels, the hotel crown is reimagined with a distinctive curved roof profile that subtly references regional Malay architectural forms, repositioning the building as a modern urban landmark.

The façade strategy employs a high contrast material palette supported by integrated architectural lighting to ensure strong visual presence throughout the day and night. Transparent glass curtain walls are balanced with solid textured panels and large scale digital or static branding elements, enhancing the hotel’s contemporary commercial appeal. After dark, carefully composed lighting highlights the bronze hued vertical fins and accentuates the silhouette of the curved roof, casting a warm, golden glow that conveys both elegance and cultural depth. By refining the podium levels and unifying the existing architectural volumes through a cohesive design language, the project establishes a more prestigious and coherent urban identity for this prominent hospitality destination.
